The association was originally registered as PERSATUAN PEMANDU UBER DAN GRAB (PPUG) with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) of Malaysia on the 10th of January 2017.

6 months down the road, due to the lucrative nature of the e-hailing industry we foresee there will be many new e-hailing operators (EHO) in the future. As a result of that, we made a decision to change the name of the association to cater to all e-haling drivers instead of just UBER and GRAB.Thankfully the Registrar of Societies (ROS) of Malaysia approved our name change application and we became officially known as Persatuan Pemandu Perkhidmatan E-Hailing (Malaysia E-Hailing Drivers Association), in short MeHDA on the 25th of August 2017.

During the period of inception, MeHDA has been perceived as the voice of e-hailing drivers as illustrated by the RTM’s Suara Kita, Hak Kita interview with MeHDA on 11th September 2017, IDEA’s roundtable discussion as a panelist on 28th November 218 and we were featured in FreeMalaysiaToday recently over the “No Waiting” rule at airport issue.
