Projek Iqra’ ini diasaskan oleh 3 orang sahabat yang sama-sama menuntut di Universiti Teknologi Malaysia pada tahun 1998 hingga 2001 iaitu Maman Solleh, Suhaimi Abdul Manan dan Sharifah Sharina Syed Aswad yang telah bergiat aktif di dalam pelbagai projek amal dan kesukarelawan semenjak tahun 2010.
