The Sabah Society for the Deaf was formed under the auspices of the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu. It was registered on 21st January 1975 as a non profit organization with the aim to promote education, employment and general welfare of deaf persons and prevent deafness in Sabah. The Society is managed by a group of volunteers who sit in the council.

Although the organization was founded in the mid 1970’s, it was not until later in the 1980’s that the organization started running actively with the formation of the new committee in 1985 and the set up of SSD’s Education Centre in 1987.

Our Objectives

  • General welfare of the deaf persons

  • To create Deaf Awareness
