Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, established around 1961, traces its origins to the late Dr. Rama, with Mr. R. Govindasamy, a devoted follower of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, playing a crucial role in its development. Under Mr. Govindasamy’s leadership, this ashram, rooted in religious teachings, extended its services far and wide. Regular gatherings at his home for prayers and outreach activities in neighboring estates and towns became its hallmark. In addition to his teaching job, Mr. Govindasamy dedicated significant time to organize spiritual activities across Malaysia and Singapore.

The ashram also undertook the noble cause of providing shelter and care to orphaned and abandoned children from challenging backgrounds. Boys and girls alike were housed, counseled, fed, and educated, broadening the ashram’s role beyond religion to that of a haven for at-risk children.

Following Mr. R. Govindasamy’s passing in 1997, his devotees honored him with the name “Swami Srila Sri Paramahamsa Thasar” for his unwavering service. His wife, Datuk P. Gunasilan, and later, his youngest son, continued his legacy. In 2013, the organization was registered with the National Welfare Department and renamed Pertubuhan Kebajikan Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna, Malaysia, officially notifying the Registrar of Societies. They receive annual food funding from the Welfare Department.

While the organization has significantly expanded the number of children it cares for, the current challenge lies in ensuring sustainability amidst rising expenses and reduced welfare funding. They are actively seeking support and hope their plea reaches those willing to help.

Vision:
Sri Ramakrishna Ashram aspires to unlock the full potential of the children under its care, ensuring their successful reintegration into society as healthy, happy, responsible, and independent adults.

Mission:
The organization is on a mission to provide orphans and other vulnerable children with an opportunity for a better life. Their focus includes delivering high-quality education, access to essential healthcare services, and, most importantly, creating a safe, nurturing, and familial environment where these children can grow up healthy and content.
