In a world often entangled with materialism and unforgivingness, many elderly individuals bear the brunt of these challenges. Frequently left uncared for by their own families, they endure solitude, homelessness, and abandonment.
For Pusat Kebajikan Kalvari (PKK), this situation represents a God-given opportunity to extend the love of Christ to these elderly souls, ushering them into a more peaceful eternity. Some of these individuals find a home within the walls of PKK. The majority of residents are facing various health challenges, including being wheelchair-bound, stroke survivors, individuals with mental health conditions, semi-paralyzed individuals, and those with partial blindness.
Caring for the elderly is a calling that demands immense patience and love. Some require assistance with even the most basic tasks, such as being spoon-fed or receiving help with their baths. To them, it is not merely the physical environment that matters, but rather the love of God extended through human touch.
PKK is immensely grateful for the dedicated staff members who selflessly care for these precious individuals. Remarkably, many of these staff members were once rehabilitated residents from PKK’s various homes and centers.
About Pusat Kebajikan Kalvari (PKK)
Pusat Kebajikan Kalvari began its journey in December 1989 with its first home on ‘Jalan Dapat’ in Johor Bahru. Since then, PKK has established 23 homes and centers in the Johor Bahru area.
These homes and rehabilitation centers serve as refuges with a singular mission: to touch the community with the love of God. By the grace of God, they tend to the needs of the helpless, abused, abandoned, and disadvantaged. Here, these individuals find rehabilitation and restoration, providing them with hope for a better future.
Additionally, PKK’s Special Education Centers offer vital intervention and learning support for those with intellectual disabilities.
Currently, PKK is in the process of developing the Calvary Care Village, a 13.6-acre rehabilitation center in Pasir Gudang, Johor, designed to support individuals facing substance abuse and psychological challenges.
The annual budget for PKK’s homes and centers in Johor amounts to RM2.53 million, with 30% of funding provided by the founding church, Calvary City Church, and the remaining 70% generously contributed by the general public, including both individuals and corporations who have faithfully supported their mission.
Our Services
At present, PKK shelters, feeds, nurtures, educates, and rehabilitates over 580 individuals, including residents, children attending the day special education center, and caregivers. The primary expenses incurred are for food, utilities, rent, vehicle maintenance, vehicle loan repayments, and worker salaries.
