The Gurney Training Centre (GTC) was set up in 1953 and its main objective is to provide the blind with rehabilitation and vocational training services.

Admission
- You can apply through your District Social Welfare Office by using the prescribed form provided here. The Social Welfare Department will then refer your application to the GTC for consideration. The cost of training for successful applicants will be borne by the Social Welfare Department.
- For those who are employed before they become blind, they can request their employers to pay for their cost of training. In such cases, application can be made directly to the GTC.
- Employees who become blind who are making SOCSO contributions can also apply through SOCSO. In such cases, application can be made directly to us by SOCSO who shall bare all the cost of training.
